What I've learned about educating clients from the most popular YouTubers (#14)
I studied famous TikTok and YouTube content creators to learn the basic outline they use to make videos that go viral. I tried it, and it works like a charm. [Outline Included]
GM. This is NLCS. The tactical newsletter that will transform you into an influential communicator with your customers, and colleagues in as little as five minutes a week.
It's easy to see why people are more kind, honest, agreeable, and willing to listen to new ideas when they look you in the eye.
But in today’s virtual selling and hybrid work world, the ability to meet a prospect in person is limited. The fix?
Leveraging video.
Here’s what I got for you today:
- Not everyone’s a “content creator”. But use this “HBCC” outline, which I use to organize the videos that my customers love, as the ultimate guide.
What I’m learning:
Problem:
I know I need to use tools like Loom and/or Vidyard to send follow-up videos to clients.
But I used to ramble on and record five different versions. It took a long time until I came up with the HBCC outline. I created this video outline after researching popular YouTube and TikTok creators known for their "punchy content." This process reduces the length of an 8-minute video to less than 3 minutes.
Here’s how it works -
I even included examples of what I say so that you can copy them starting as early as today.
Solution
Hook
Notice how I start with a question in addition to describing the outcomes: "Could you write back and tell me what you think?”
This way, the audience is watching with the intent to answer, which keeps them interested.
Build Up
I call out something they’re not expecting. I also tease the rest of the video.
Content
In groups of three, people tend to remember information more easily. I've found that it effectively organizes my content.
Conclude
To maintain the audience's interest, I summarize what I've discussed and reiterate what they're expected to do next - "email me your thoughts!"
Summary:
Hook → Build Up → Content → Conclude
Trivia Time
What is the first movie ever released in January to gross over $100 million during its initial release? Hint: It takes place in a mall
NLCS Finds
Appsumo - apps are great, but I hate overpaying for software. Appsumo is a website that shows software solutions available as a lifetime deal for a price that’s a fraction of the cost of what you’d pay annually. Maybe something to browse for Cyber Monday :-)
Trivia Answer:
Paul Blart Mall Cop.
(Yep, I was shocked too)
That’s a wrap up for this week though -
I hope you had an amazing few days of rest.
Every week, I dedicate over 80 hours to learning or practicing effective communication techniques so that I can distill it all into a <5-minute read for you. Think of this newsletter as the friend you had in college who goes to all the lectures and takes detailed notes so you don't have to miss out on your fun while I do all the work.
I spend a lot of time making sure I write something that brings value to you.
The best compliment you could pay NLCS would be to share it with one person who would find this content valuable.
If you know any Customer Success professionals who could benefit from this level of transparency, I would love to bring them into our small circle of people who care about Customer Success. Please feel free to forward this article and others from the NLCS (New Laws of Customer Success) universe to grow our tight-knit community one person at a time.
Sending you great vibes -
